In Kabardino-Balkaria the public committee on assistance in organization of re-burying of the ex-chairman of Government of the Northern-Caucasian (Mountain) republic (1917-1919) Pshemaho Kotsev and his wife Lutsi Misakova was created.

About it “Caucasian unit" correspondent was informed in the Kabardino-Balkarian public legal expert centre.

On December 25, 2007 the Kabardino-Balkarian legal expert centre had addressed to the President of KBR Arsen Kanokov with a request for assistance in re-burying of the remains of the ex-chairman of Government of Northern-Caucasian (Mountain) republic (1917-1919) Pshemaho Kotsev and his wife Lutsi Misakova, which had been buried on one of the Turkish cemeteries. With such appeal the close relatives of Kotsev and Misakova addressed to the President of KBR, too.

The bodies of authority of Kabardino-Balkaria positively considered that initiative and the certain activities in that direction had been already done, the chief of the centre Valery Hatazhukov told.

"Having studied the experience of organization of such re-burying, representatives of public organizations, creative intelligency and close relatives of Kotsev and Misakova decided to form a public committee on assistance in organization of re-burying", - Hatazhukov explained.

In Hatazhukov’s opinion, creation of the committee supposes uniting of the efforts of the public and bodies of the republican authority in resolution of all the complex questions connected to that project’s implementation.

As Hatazhukov informed, the organizational assembly of the newly created committee would be held on May 30, 2008 at 3.00 p.m. at the legal expert centre office.

The Russian Congress of the Peoples of Caucasus (RCPC) in the beginning of May had sent the reference to the president of Kabardino-Balkaria, in which it asked about re-burying on the historic native land of the chairman of the government of Northern-Caucasian (Mountain) republic (1917-1919) Pshemaho Kotsev.

The organizations "Adyghe Khase" and "Circassian Congress" of Adygeya supported the idea of re-burying of the remains of the ex-president Northern-Caucasian (Mountain) republic (1917-1919) Pshemaho Kotsev and his wife Lutsi Misakova on their native land.

As Pshemaho Kotsev’s grand nephew, the trainer of one of the Nalchik sports schools Ruslan Kotsev informed “Caucasian unit" correspondent, "the action was welcomed by his relatives". "Pshemaho Kotsev was an outstanding state figure of Kabardino-Balkaria. He should be reburied on his native land", - Kotsev’s native said.

In the opinion of the writer and the public figure of Kabardino-Balkaria Zaur Naloev, "if not Denikin’s aggression, and then the aggression of the Red Army, his (Pshemaho Kotsev’s) political program would have changed the life of the peoples of Northern Caucasus".

It is known that Kotsev was among those who with enthusiasm met the February bourgeois revolution in Russia, believing that new Russia would become a democratic state with the federal structure, in which all the peoples would find the long-awaited freedom.

On May 1, 1917 in Vladikavkaz it was assembled the 1-st congress of the peoples of Caucasus, at which the Union of the united mountaineers of Caucasus was created". Pshemaho Kotsev was elected a member of the central council of the Union.

However after the Bolsheviks’ coming to powers the situation changed quickly. Starvation, reprisals and terror caused seizure from the new authority. On May 11, 1918 "the Union of the united mountaineers of Caucasus" proclaimed the independent Northern-Caucasian (Mountain) republic. The Government of that republic was twice headed by Pshemaho Kotsev.

Mountain republic was defeated by Denikin’s army. After establishment of the Soviet authority in Northern Caucasus Pshemaho Kotsev emigrated to Turkey.
