And precisely this kind of joy appeared this past week in the aul of Lanakhes. A daughter was born to Ibrahim and Yasan Kebertay, who moved to Adygeya straight from the battlefields of Syria and were given a home in a Shapsug aul. The child’s name is Maryam. She’s the third child in the family: her two older brothers are Abdullah and Ali, who are three and two. Maryam was born in an Adygeysk maternity clinic. Mother and daughter are doing well.
The Kebertay family is a typical representative of the Circassian intelligentsia of Syria. Ibrahim is an engineer. Yasan graduated from the University of Damascus and is a member of the Sheujen clan. Her grandfather Adnan is a history professor, and her grandmother is a professor of French language and literature.
Let’s hope that Maryam’s birth will become the first step for repatriates in gaining assurance in the future and serve to alert the world to those who have not yet escaped the horrors of war.
We congratulate the Kebertay family for this splendid addition to their family from the bottoms of our hearts, and we wish them peace, happiness, health and prosperity!"
